You Have Life Insurance Through Work. Is That Enough?

Let’s try something.

Don’t think about insurance yet.

Think about your paycheck.

If your income stopped permanently tomorrow, what expenses would still show up next month?

🏠 Housing

💡 Utilities

🥦 Groceries

🚗 Car payments

💳 Debt

👶 Childcare

🎓 Education

📱 Everyday expenses

The bills don’t automatically disappear because you do.

And THAT is where the life insurance conversation gets more interesting.

What Is Term Life Insurance?

Term life insurance provides life insurance coverage for a specified period, subject to the policy’s terms.

If the insured dies while qualifying coverage is in force, the policy generally pays a death benefit to the designated beneficiary.

Pretty straightforward.

But here’s the more important question:

How Much Would Your Family Actually Need?

Don’t just pick a number.

Try this instead.

The “If I Wasn’t Here” Test

If you weren’t here tomorrow, would you want your life insurance to help:

○ Replace your income?

○ Pay off or reduce a mortgage?

○ Cover other debts?

○ Help with your children’s education?

○ Pay final expenses?

○ Give your spouse or family financial breathing room?

○ Leave money behind for the next generation?

Now ask yourself:

Would the coverage you currently have actually do all of that?

That’s a very different question from:

“Do I have life insurance?”

“But I Have Insurance Through My Job.”

Great.

Now ask:

How much?

Can you keep it if you leave the company?

What happens if your employment changes?

Who is currently listed as your beneficiary?

When was the last time you reviewed it?

Don’t know?

You’re definitely not alone but those are answers worth finding.

Here’s Your Challenge

Before you leave this page, find out exactly how much life insurance coverage you currently have.

Then ask yourself:

“If my family received that amount tomorrow, how long would it actually last?”

Six months?

Two years?

Ten years?

Would it accomplish what you intended?

That’s the conversation.

Life insurance isn’t simply about having a policy.

It’s about understanding what you’re trying to protect.
